A slender, evergreen tree, 10-15 m tall, with drooping branches, buttressed base, blackish trunk, dark green, ovate or oblong lanceolate leaves, red when young, small, white male and female flowers, dark purple or orange-pink or wine brown, globose fruits having 5-8 compressed seeds enclosed in red, acidic pulp. |
