| An erect annual herb, 0.5-1 m high, with grooved and gland-dotted stems and branches, broadly-elliptic or ovate leaves, small, purplish-violet flowers, in axillary racemes and ovoid-oblong, compressed, mucronate, dark brown to black indehiscent pods containing solitary, smooth, flattened, dark brown, reniform seeds having an agreeable aroma and taste. | ||||||
