A total of 3645 herbarium sheets belonging to 557 species are deposited in the Herbarium. This includes medicinal plants and also those that are rare, red-listed and endemic from the conservation point of view eg. Gymnema khandalense Santapau, Madhuca insignis (Radlk.) H.J. Lam., Pothos crassipedunculatus Sivad. & Mohanan, Embelia ribes Burm.f., Coscinium fenestratum (Gaertn.) Colebr., Berberis tinctoria Lesch., Hydnocarpus macrocarpus ssp. macrocarpus (Bedd.) Warb.,Eugenia singampattiana Bedd., Utleria salicifolia Bedd. ex Hook.f., Hybanthus travancoricus (Bedd.) Melch., Syzygium travancoricum Gamble, Cynometra travancorica Bedd. etc.

A database is also being maintained with all relevant information and image of herbarium sheet. It contains 2068 records with information on collection number, date and place of collection, botanical name, family, habit, habitat, biotic association, phenology, altitude, longitude, latitude, forest type, unique characters, number of specimens etc. from Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil nadu and Andhra Pradesh.
