Research Experience/Expertise

14 years research experience in medicinal plant botany and ethnobotany.
6 years research experience on pharmacognotsic studies of Medicinal plants in a research project on Collection, Propagation, Cultivation and Pharmacognosy of 20 species of Minor Forest Produce used in Ayurveda, funded by IDRC, Canada. 1 year research experience in a research project on Harvesting, Primary Processing and Storage of Medicinal plants and conducting survey on the problems existing in present practice of the same. Served as a resource person in the workshops on medicinal plants promotional activities for the rural farmers, students and women organizations and Krishibhavans for the last 3 years. Served as Assistant Manager in the Estate Department of AVS, Kottakkal for 3 ½ years and later as Manager in charge of AVS Herb Garden at Kottakkal for almost 3 years and AVS Herb Garden at Kanjirappuzha (Palakkad) for 1 ½ years. Earlier worked as research fellow at Kerala Forest Research Institute (KFRI), Thrissur for 2 years.


Research Projects Handled

Large scale micropropagation and organic home-stead farming of medicinal plants in rural areas as a means of economic empowerment of rural women in three districts of Northern Kerala (Co-Principal Investigator, 2005-08 (3 years), National Medicinal Plants Board, Govt. of India
